The First BioLogic BlueRev RRDE at the School of Chemistry at the University of Witwatersrand

The DSI-NRF-Wits SARCHI Chair in Materials Electrochemistry and Energy Technologies (MEET) group is based at the University of the Witwatersrand in the School of Chemistry under the leadership of Prof Kenneth Ikechukwu Ozoemena (https://www. ozoemenagroup.com). Their research interest varies from materials for supercapacitors, batteries, fuel cells, electrolysers, electrochemical sensors and solid-state electrolysers.

In particular, the rotating disk electrode (RDE) and the ring rotating disk electrode (RRDE) kit will be used to facilitate the evaluation of materials for oxygen electrocatalysis such as oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). These electrochemical reactions are fundamental in energy storage and conversion technologies such as metal-air batteries, electrolysers (water splitting reactors), and fuel cells that generate energy in sustainable and environmentally friendly ways.
